Event Details

The Youth Council, Young & Safe and the Leader of Lambeth Council, Steve Reed, invite you to a Youth Council Meeting and Youth Crime Summit.

This event is open to all young people aged 11-19 in Lambeth.

David Oyedele, Lambeth Youth Mayor says " The vast majority of young people know that talking and not violence is the best way to influence change, don’t miss out on this opportunity to get your views heard”

Cllr Steve Reed says "We can all play our part in making young people realise that there are real alternatives out there to crime whatever their background and circumstance. And who else is better equipped or placed to get this message through to young people involved in gang culture than their peers? The Youth Council Crime Summit is about looking at ways in which young people can help develop a community-led approach in tackling youth crime. The summit will focus on how we can identify and reach out to the minority of young people who feel so alienated within our communities that they believe the only forward is to become involved in gang culture.”

Lambeth Youth Council and Young & Safe

Lambeth Youth Council is an award winning youth leadership and engagement project.  It allows young people to make a difference in their lives and those of others in the borough through training and empowerment.

The Youth Council allows young people to give their views on issues affecting them and their community and also gives them the resources to act on their ideas.

Lambeth’s Youth Council is an excellent way for the council to communicate with young people.  In turn, the Youth Council actively participate in shaping council policy and service delivery.
